Landrover at Dumfries Infirmary

Landrover at Dumfries Infirmary

At 1430 on 16 January 2016 Police Scotland asked the team to attend a women with a suspected broken ankle at the summit of Criffel.

On arrival at Ardwall Mains an advance party found the usual track which allows access to the hill to be blocked by fallen trees. (this would normally allow the team to get about a 1/3 of the way up the hill).

This meant the team had to carry the stretcher and equipment required to the summit.

R999 the new helicopter from Prestwick was attending a callout with our neigbouring team Galloway MRT. As the helicopter arrived with that casualty in Dumfries they radioed the team, but unfortunately were not able to get near the casualty site due to poor visibility.

The team packaged the casualty and then stretchered her off the hill with a back rope due to the steep ground.

The casualty was then taken by MRT Landrover to Dumfries Infirmary as the road conditions were poor due to the amount of snow and got to the hospital at around 1930.

The callout was complete with the vehicle back in Moffat at 2130.

14 Team members and over 70 man hours of time.
